HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Seizing the Spotlight

Eva Longoria — looking divine in a color-blocked red sheath number — had a bit of an Andrew Breitbart moment Thursday.

While the press waited for the “Desperate Housewives” star to start speaking, D.C. statehood activist Adam Eidinger borrowed her podium, just as the conservative blogger did at Rep. Anthony Weiner’s (D-N.Y.) first Twitter-related press conference.

“The Weiner has left the building,” Eidinger informed the crowd. “And now on to a more important issue: the 600,000 people in D.C. who don’t have representation.”

“I hope you all get over your sex addiction and start covering real stories,” he said before taking his leave.

Oh, snap!

Afterward, he tweeted, “Just held press conference on [the] #weiner resignation.”

Well … not to be picky, but we are pretty sure he just borrowed the Longoria press conference.

And the lady might not have been talking D.C. statehood, but she and Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-Calif.) were about to speak in support of the Children’s Act for Responsible Employment for the protection of child migrant workers.

So … the media wasn’t actually there covering Longoria’s thoughts on the Weiner’s resignation, but it’s cool, dude. We totally get it: The commandeered press conference is the new black.
