Assemblyman Jared Huffman raised $145,000 in the third quarter and had $366,000 in cash on hand, giving him a wide lead over his closest Democratic competitor, activist Norman Solomon, who raised $91,000 and had $87,000 in cash on hand.

Huffman also led Solomon in an internal poll that his campaign released Monday. Huffman led the “top two” primary poll with 20 percent, followed by Dan Roberts, the only Republican polled, with 18 percent, Solomon with 7 percent and Marin County Supervisor Susan Adams with 5 percent.

The candidates are running for California’s open and redrawn (and solidly Democratic) 2nd district. Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D) is retiring.

The poll was conducted by California-based firm Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin, Metz & Associates. In the poll, 400 registered voters were surveyed from Oct. 5 to Oct. 9. It carried a 4.9-point margin of error.
