Rep. Michele Bachmann is looking for new campaign staff in New Hampshire after her team in the state quit last week, the Minnesota Republican said today.

The 2012 presidential hopeful also defended her strategy of focusing her time on Iowa. ABC’s New Hampshire affiliate, WMUR, reported that her New Hampshire staff was disgruntled because she had not paid sufficient attention to the state.

“We’re replacing the staff that we have in New Hampshire,” Bachmann said when asked about her campaign strategy.

She added: “We’re getting to New Hampshire, and we’re getting to South Carolina as frequently as we can. We also recognize the process. Iowa has stated Jan. 3 is now the date [for its presidential caucuses], so they’re No. 1. So we’re focusing on the very first state that will have a voice on the 2012 elections. That’s Iowa.”

Bachmann campaign manager Keith Nahigian had denied knowledge of any resignations Friday afternoon, after the news broke.

“We have a great team in New Hampshire and we have not been notified that anyone is leaving the campaign,” he said in a statement issued from Iowa.
