Heard on the Hill: Roy Blunt Behind the Scenes of Extreme Makeover
Devastating natural disasters have, it would seem, increasingly become part-and-parcel of our everyday existence. So it’s no surprise that solons love to be a part of any glimmer of good news surrounding the righting of wrongs perpetrated by an unruly Mother Nature.
Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) recently surveyed — sans construction helmet (Safety first, Senator!) — the seven new homes reality TV dream weaver “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” will ultimately present (sometime later this season, no doubt) to families displaced by a tornado that wound its way through Joplin, Mo., earlier this year.
A Blunt spokeswoman confirmed that Blunt has tuned in to the real-estate-revamping program before but was still utterly moved by the outpouring of support from everyone he encountered on the set.
“He was very impressed by the homes being built by Sam Clifton from Milestone in Springfield, Mo., and the thousands of volunteers who flew in from all over America to help Joplin,” the Blunt aide said.
“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” airs at 8 p.m. Friday on ABC.
