HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Nerds to Nosh at Minibar

Attention all C-SPAN devotees/History channel buffs: The gustatory gods behind the museum-y America Eats Tavern are finally ready to reward your eternal vigilance.

ThinkFoodGroup is hosting a historically themed Halloween party Monday night. And they’ll be treating the grand-prize winner of their throwback costume contest — “Come dressed as your favorite American historical figure” the open invitation reads — to two gratis tasting menus (worth about $300) at the toughest reservation in town: Minibar. (We’ve been. It’s pretty spectacular.)

No word on just how obscure armchair historians can go in terms of costume development. (Could an eerily pasty, nasal-drippy William Henry Harrison clinch the free eats? We seriously doubt it.)

But the historati — staff are expecting from 75 to 100 incognito guests — will get the chance to strut their stuff around America Eats Tavern’s first-floor lounge from 8-11 p.m. Monday night.
