Poll: Mitt Romney Still Wins Expectation Game

Businessman Herman Cain refers to himself as the Republican frontrunner, but new polling shows GOP voters don’t believe that is the case.

Despite battling sexual harassment allegations, Cain remained tied with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in a Gallup poll of the Republican primary electorate.

While Cain and Romney tied at 21 percent, Gallup reported Wednesday that the poll found 45 percent believed Romney remained the most likely to become the nominee. That included 38 percent of Cain voters.

Just 13 percent said they believed Cain was the most likely to win the nomination, followed by 9 percent saying the same about Texas Gov. Rick Perry and 4 percent about Newt Gingrich.

The poll was conducted of 1,054 Republicans and GOP-leaning independents from Nov. 2-6 and carried a 4-point margin of error.
