Heard on the Hill: Take Five!

Tuesday is here, and it is time once again for HOH to help you get to know a Member of Congress better through a series of five fun questions. This week, Rep. Jon Runyan (R-N.J.) discusses his musical and literary fancies.

Q: What is the one superpower that you would want to have?
A: Invisibility, because I think every once in a while being able to go about your day without being noticed would be nice.

Q: Mac or PC?
A: Mac. I just find them to be more user-friendly.

Q: Who is your favorite musical artist/band of all time?
A: George Strait, because it was the first concert I went to with my wife, Loretta, at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Q: We know you are a former professional football player. What is the most memorable injury you’ve ever had or witnessed in your football career?
A: When two teammates fell on and crushed my foot on Christmas Day, which then required two operations to fix.

(Bonus side note: Runyan was injured during this month’s Congressional football game and has been seen in a motorized wheelchair. He was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, according to his press secretary. That’s an inflammation of his heel. He was told to stay off it for a while, and it is getting better, his office says.)

Q: What is your favorite book?
A: “The Four Agreements” by Miguel Angel Ruiz. The book promotes the idea of creating happiness through personal freedom. The four agreements in the book are: be impeccable with your word, don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions, always do your best.
