HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Long Live the Free Lunch

Government workers will get an early Christmas present today courtesy of GovLoop, a government-oriented social networking platform, which has recruited a pair of local food trucks to feed, for free, the first 500 federal workers who flash their work ID.

The “Free Lunch for Feds” promotion will feature complimentary servings of signature CapMac (@capmacdc) and BBQ Bus (@bbqbusdc) fare. From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the mobile vendors will be stationed outside the Federal Triangle and L’Enfant Plaza Metro stops, respectively.

The first 200 folks to visit CapMac will have their choice of gratis classic macaroni and cheese with a drink or goat cheese macaroni and cheese plus a drink, while the first 300 individuals to locate BBQ Bus can choose from a pulled pork sandwich, chips and soda platter or three-bean vegetarian chili and drink combo.

The no-strings-attached freebie comes on the heels of GovLoop welcoming its 50,000th member — a milestone that will be celebrated with more free drinks and eats Thursday night at 19th Bar (1900 I St. NW).
