The Republican National Committee has hired a director of Hispanic outreach as part of its effort to court Latino voters this election cycle, which was officially announced today and was reported Monday in Roll Call.

Bettina Inclan is a longtime Republican strategist and former head of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly. At the RNC, she will oversee a national staff focused on swing states with large Hispanic populations, including Florida, New Mexico, Colorado, North Carolina and Nevada.

She will also spearhead an aggressive messaging plan to convince Hispanic voters that the eventual Republican presidential nominee will do a better job improving the economy than President Barack Obama has, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said on a conference call.

“The Republican message of economic security is going to resonate with the Latino community,” Priebus said.
