National Democrats upped the ante in the North Dakota Senate race with a second ad buy to boost their nominee, former state Attorney General Heidi Heitkamp.

This week, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee placed another $86,000 statewide ad buy through their independent expenditure arm. The 30-second spot, which runs from today to July 2, blasts Heitkamp’s opponent, freshman Rep. Rick Berg (R-N.D.).

The buy marks the DSCC’s second IE ad of the cycle in North Dakota, following an earlier buy. It’s a sign the committee views the race as competitive and worth their early investment.

Separately, the committee also transferred funds to state parties to run spots to support their Senate nominees in Indiana and Montana.

A recent Mason-Dixon Polling and Research survey of the North Dakota Senate race showed Heitkamp and Berg in a virtual tie.

Roll Call rates this race as Leans Republican.
