Kelly Ayotte: Barack Obama Playing ‘Small Ball’

Sen. Kelly Ayotte said today that President Barack Obama is “running on small-ball politics” instead of tackling major issues facing the country.

In an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” the New Hampshire Republican argued that the Obama campaign’s attacks on presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s record at Bain Capital is a distraction.

“What’s most disappointing about this is the president, who ran as an inspirational leader, look where we are with him right now,” she said. “Unfortunately, with these attacks, it shows that he’s just a small politician and running on small-ball politics at a time when our country is facing grave, grave challenges.”

Noting that Romney has released his 2010 tax returns and plans to release his 2011 returns, Ayotte said he has disclosed more than required by federal law.

She also argued that most voters aren’t interested in the controversy.

“They’re worried about their own tax returns, whether they can find jobs,” she said.
