House Republicans cut $780,000 of ad reservations in the Philadelphia broadcast market today intended for Rep. Jon Runyan’s (R-N.J.) re-election, according to a Republican source familiar with the move.

The cancellation for Oct. 5-18 signals the National Republican Congressional Committee is confident Runyan will defeat attorney Shelley Adler (D) and believes that chunk of money is better spent in other races.

There’s at least one other contested district in the pricey Philadelphia market: Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick’s (R-Pa.) race. But the canceled reservation could have aired only one advertising campaign at saturation levels.

The NRCC has kept its advertisement buys in the Philadelphia market for the final two weeks before Election Day. Those reservations could boost Runyan or Fitzpatrick if needed.

A recent Tarrance Group poll of the New Jersey Congressional race showed Runyan leading Adler, 50 to 34 percent. The NRCC paid for this survey, taken Sept. 11-13.

Roll Call rates both Runyan’s and Fitzpatrick’s races as Leans Republican.
