It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for Take Five, when HOH has a chance to get to know a member of Congress by asking five fun questions relatively unrelated to their legislative work. This week, freshman Rep. Ann McLane Kuster, D-N.H., tells us what she’s reading, what she’s missing and where she’d go if she could escape Congress for an impromptu vacation.


Q: What do you miss most about your district when you’re in Washington, D.C.?

A: I’m from a very beautiful district, and I love to walk, kayak and bike with my friends and husband when I’m home. Seeing the sites and monuments in Washington is wonderful, but nothing tops spending time outdoors in New Hampshire.

Q: Is there anything that you miss about Washington when you’re back home in your district (political or otherwise)?

A: One thing I always appreciate about Washington is the easy access to public transportation — something we have less of where I’m from.

Q: If you could take a week of vacation starting tomorrow and go anywhere in the world, where would you choose and why?

A: I share a home on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire with my extended family. The summers there are unbeatable and there is no place I would rather spend time with family and friends.

Q: What book, if any, are you currently reading?

A: Right now I’m reading “The Art of Fielding” by Chad Harbach.

Q: When you just want to chill out and watch TV, what show do you watch?

A: My husband and I try not to miss Red Sox and Patriots games.
