The Senate resumes consideration of the nomination of former Sen. Chuck Hagel to be Defense secretary. At noon, senators will reconsider the cloture vote on the Hagel nomination. After the vote, the chamber will recess for caucus lunches.

The House considers a measure that would establish an annual academic competition in the STEM fields in each congressional district.
