Menendez Closes Defense Fund To Which Melgens Gave $40K

Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) filed a termination notice on 2/28 for his Fund To Uphold The Constitution, a legal defense fund related to the Committee to Recall Robert Menendez v. Wells. The fund also filed a final report for January 2013 showing a contribution of $10,000 from New Jersey Democratic State Committee. The fund was set up in January 2011 and was used to pay legal fees, accounting and tax services. From 2011-2013 the major donors to the fund were Salomon Melgen (Melgen Eye Center, FL) $20,000; Flor M. Melgen (homemaker, FL) $20,000; New Jersey Democratic State Committee $20,000; New Millennium PAC (Sen. Menendez’s PAC) $20,000; CG Sportswear (NY) $10,000; Joseph T. Dockery (NJ) $10,000; Raul Alarcon Jr. (Spanish Broadcasting System, FL) $10,000; Ironstate Holdings LLC (NJ) $10,000; George J. Tsunis (Chartwell Hotels, NY) $10,000; and Olga J. Tsunis (NY) $10,000.
