Top Wall Street Financiers Load Up Majority Leader Cantor

Thirteen Wall Street financiers and spouses contributed $122,500 to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor during the first quarter of 2013.

Cantor Young Guns Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee, reported it received $10,000 from Kenneth Mehlman (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.); $10,000 from Lewis Eisenberg (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.); $15,000 from Marc Lipschultz (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.) and his spouse; $20,000 from Gunnar Overstrom (Maverick Capital) and his spouse; $10,000 from Jacob Doft (Highline Capital Management); $10,000 from David Moore (Moore Holdings); $10,000 from John Finley (Blackstone Group); $10,000 from Michael Karsch (Karsch Capital Management); $10,000 from Edward Sassower (Kirkland & Ellis); $10,000 from Lisa Wilks (Spiegel Associates); and $7,500 fromTiffany Moller (Parsol LLC).

Our guess is the key fundraiser was Ken Mehlman, who was chairman of the RNC from 2005 to 2007 and managed George W. Bush’s 2004 re-election campaign. Joint fundraising committees can be very efficient since a donor has to write only one large check. The Cantor committee gave $81,133 of the proceeds to Cantor’s PAC and $63,350 to his campaign committee.
