Rep. Pearce’s Odyssey of Campaign Funds

Rep. Steve Pearce (R-N.M.) reported today he used campaign funds to give $10,000 to a new Super PAC whose treasurer is his brother, and gave $10,000 to a 501(c)(4) non-profit set up by his former deputy chief of staff.

Rep. Pearce’s campaign committee, People for Pearce, reported it gave $10,000 on 1/17 to Goal WestPAC of College Station, Texas. The treasurer is Philip G. Pearce, the Congressman’s brother. The Goal WestPAC was registered at the Federal Election Commission in January. Their first report is due on April 15th.People for Pearce also gave $10,000 on 1/17 to Goal Advocacy, a 501(c)(4) non-profit, based in Hobbs, New Mexico. The executive director is Jason Heffley, Rep. Pearce’s former deputy chief of staff. The Goal Advocacy website states it promotes job growth in New Mexico.

The campaign committee also reported paying $2,527 on 1/12 to Odyssey Cruises (IL) for “lodging.”
