Ohio: Joyce Raised $234,000 in First Quarter
Rep. David Joyce raised a strong $234,200 during the first quarter of this year, according to fundraising figures provided exclusively to CQ Roll Call.
Joyce, perhaps Ohio’s most vulnerable House Republican, ended last month with $463,000 in the bank.
Joyce’s haul shows he is taking his 2014 re-election seriously, building cash reserves for the Cleveland television market.
Democrats have already indicated they plan to target the 14th District as a pick-up opportunity in 2014. As early as December, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel named Joyce as a top GOP target in an interview with CQ Roll Call.
Local Republicans picked Joyce as their nominee last August after now former GOP Rep. Steven C. LaTourette suddenly announced his retirement late in the cycle.
In November, Joyce defeated a perennial Democratic candidate by 15 points and coasted to a first term. Meanwhile, Mitt Romney carried the 14th District by 3 points.
