Another former Obama administration official with a leftover campaign account is former Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, who has $219,075 in cash on hand left in her Solis For Congress account from when she was a Democratic U.S. representative from California.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has $242,350 in her Friends of Hillary account, her leadership PAC as a Democratic U.S. senator from New York.

Former Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, now mayor of Chicago, has $36,211 left in his Friends of Rahm Emanuel account, leftover from his campaigns as a Democratic U.S. representative from Illinois.

Outgoing Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, a former Republican U.S. representative from Illinois, has no funds left after contributing his last $60,000 to Citizens for Darin LaHood for a state Senate race in 2008.

Current Secretary of State John Kerry has $294,374 left in his John Kerry for Senate Committee, leftover from his campaigns as a Democratic U.S. senator from Massachusetts. His leadership PAC, Campaign for our Country, has $11,941 in cash on hand as of April 10.

Candidates may not use leftover funds for personal use, but may contribute them to nonprofits, such as educational institutions, party committees or charities.
