Bird Terrorizes Tourists, Capitol Police Officers
For the past two weeks, Capitol Police officers stationed at a post on the outskirts of the Capitol Complex have known what Tippi Hedren went through.
A tipster alerted HOH that a large bird has been acting out its own version of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds,” swooping down and hitting officers, tourists and others on the back of their heads on the corner of Second Street and Constitution Avenue NE.

The officer said the crow is likely just protecting the baby birds living in a large nest high atop the tree, and joked that officers stationed at the post have alerted their commander about the “assault suspect,” which he described as a “10-inch black crow.”
This HOH reporter — admittedly terrified of all birds, large and small — did not witness the crow dive-bombing any unassuming passersby.
However, the officer we spoke to said that he and his colleagues don’t think the bird poses any kind of threat to the community, and that this episode of “The Birds” will likely end once the baby birds fly the coop.
In any case, if you’re going to be passing through the area, we suggest you cover your head with your hands and run real fast.
