Weekend Update: Preakness’s Freakness, and a 3 Stars Throwdown

Everybody on board for the Freakness!

The 138th Annual Preakness at Pimlico track in Baltimore is all set for Saturday.

And although the second leg of the Triple Crown has grown a bit more sedate of late — a fact hammered home by the “retirement” of the Preakness mascot Kegasus — there’s still enough merriment in Charm City to warrant a trip.

Just don’t expect any more classic Running of the Urinals, a Lord of the Flies-type ritual in the Infield at Pimlico that was a factor in the Maryland Jockey Club putting the kibosh on BYOB.

As for Sunday, that’s the day reserved for the 3 Stars Brewing Company‘s 2013 Oyster and BBQ Throwdown at 3 Stars HQ at 6400 Chillum Place NW.

Those looking to buy tickets on Eventbrite are out of luck. They’ve sold out. But keep checking with the brewery, just in case there are spots that open up. You never know, people might peel off early to go see “Star Trek Into Darkness.”
