U Street has quite the intriguing musical selection for Tuesday night.

While there is seldom a shortage of good acts and bands in the neighborhood, what with the 9:30 Club, Black Cat and Bohemian Caverns anchoring the scene, tonight feels one step beyond.

It starts at 6 p.m., at the Howard Theater, at 620 T St. NW, which is celebrating the birthday of the late hip-hop impresario Christopher Wallace, aka Notorious B.I.G., aka Biggie Smalls. DJ Biggs and DJ SNS will be your guides until midnight. $10 unless you RSVP, and a $10 minimum tab.

Down the street at DC9, the doors open at 7 p.m. for Anti-Flag’s 20th anniversary tour. The Pittsburgh punk godfathers share the bill with a host of other like-minded bands and are scheduled to go on at 9:50 p.m. at 1940 9th St. NW. $16 in advance, $18 at the door.

And if hip-hop or punk isn’t doing it for you, U Street Music Hall at 1115 U St. NW is hosting a Daft Punk release party for the French electronica duo’s new album “Random Access Memories,” starting at 8 p.m. The best part? The Hall is playing the album in full on vinyl. It’s only $5 to get in for 18-20 year olds, and free for those of age. And they’re giving away some Daft Punk merch, posters and the like.

Overall, not a bad night ahead for eclectic music tastes.
