Yep. That’s Nats Pitching Coach Steve McCatty in Playgirl

Nationals Pitching Coach Steve McCatty posed for Playgirl back in the 1980s.

Washington Post’s DC Sports Bog

McCatty, the mustachioed, gruff, hulking dugout fixture and resident cat-herder for the Nat hurlers, is known for his dry sense of humor and his interminably slow walks to the pitcher’s mound during games — “cat chats” in the parlance of MASN color man F.P. Santangelo.

The McCatty spread looks to be a part of a Playgirl feature on Major League Baseball players. McCatty, who during the 1984 pictorial was pitching for the Oakland A’s, appears alongside Dennis Eckersley and Phil Garner. They’re all in swim suits. And they all have mustaches.

One thing we learned today: Apollonian, or pop-cultural at least, ideals of the male physique have changed.
