Members of Congress Open New Avenues for PAC Money

Rep. Lois Frankel, D-Fla., registered her new leadership PAC, Leadership Opportunity Innovation Service PAC (LOIS PAC), in order to raise funds and contribute to other members and candidates.

Freshman Frankel raised $415,797 from PACs and other committees during 2011-2012. This included $61,250 from other leadership PACs of members of Congress. She also received $34,500 from the campaign committees of other members. View her 2011-2012 financial profile.

In the 113th Congress she sits on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee as well as the Foreign Affairs Committee. She has raised $35,892 from PACs and other committees in the first quarter of 2013, although none have maxed out. Transportation and Infrastructure Committee members have already received $3.4 million in contributions in 2013.

Rep. Bill Johnson, R-Ohio, has registered his new leadership PAC, Belief in Life and Liberty PAC (Bill’s PAC)Johnson raised $974,234 from PACs and other committees in 2011-2012. This included $200,750 from leadership PACs of other members. He also received $59,650 from the campaign committees of other members. View his 2011-2012 financial profile.

Johnson raised $85,500 from PACs and other committees in the first quarter of 2013. Johnson sits on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, whose members this year have already received more than $5 million in PAC contributions.
