Rep. Joyce Beatty, D-Ohio,
is a new member of the House Financial Services Committee and this week set up a leadership PAC, New Voice PAC, to collect PAC funds and individual contributions. The Financial Services Committee is known for its members’ ability to garner PAC money.

During the 2011-2012 cycle, Beatty received $407,625 from PACs and other committees. This included $26,208 from other leadership PACs and $15,250 from member’s campaign committees. The largest amounts of PAC money came from labor union PACs, with financial and insurance PACs next. PACs maxing out at $10,000 in contributions included: Committee on Letter Carriers Political Education, CULAC the PAC of the Credit Union National Association, Huntington Bancshares Inc. PAC, Int’l Brotherhood of Electrical Workers PAC, JPMorgan Chase & Co. PAC, Limited Brands Inc. PAC, Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company PAC, and the American Association for Justice PAC.

View Beatty’s 2011-2012 campaign financial profile. In the first quarter of 2013, she raised $33,600 from PACs and other committees.

Having a leadership PAC will permit Beatty to take into her PAC $5,000 a year from a PAC, even if that PAC had already given to her campaign committee.
