Danielczyk was sentenced Friday to serve 28 months in prison after pleading guilty in February 2013 to making $186,600 in illegal conduit campaign contributions to then-Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s September 2006 Senate campaign fundraising event and a March 2007 presidential fundraising event.

The prosecutor had sought a five-year sentence for Danielczyk, and he indicated grand jury testimony showed Danielczyk had told others he hoped his fundraising would help him get an ambassadorship.
Co-defendant Eugene Biagi was sentenced Friday to probation.
