New Independent Expenditure Group Spends $127K in Massachusetts

A new and little-known PAC has made more than $125,000 in independent expenditures on behalf of Gabriel Gomez in the Massachusetts Senate race.

Americans for Progressive Action registered with the Federal Election Commission on June 6. The PAC uses the address of its treasurer, Nancy H. Watkins, a Republican who provides professional PAC and campaign accounting services to many candidates, PACs, and party committees. Watkins works for Robert Watkins & Company.

WCVBTV in Needham, Mass., reported to the Federal Communications Commission that it had sold $127,150 to the PAC on June 12. The pro-Gomez TV ads will run from June 13 to 18. The ad contract was placed by Smart Media Group of Alexandria, Va. Smart Media’s other clients have included the Republican National Committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee, the Republican Governors Association, and Michele Bachmann for President, among many others.
