Captain America’s Trip to D.C. Via Lake Erie
CLEVELAND — Imagine the surprise of Roll Call After Dark when, tooling around on Saturday morning near Cleveland Browns Stadium on Lakeside Avenue, we happened upon some D.C. familiarity, a map of the Washington Metro system.
As if that wasn’t strange enough, there was even a familiar stop for those who traffic around Capitol Hill, the Capitol South Metro Station.
Now, Roll Call After Dark did partake of a couple of cold ones at Friday night’s Washington Nationals-Cleveland Indians game at Progressive Field (sadly no longer known as Jacobs Field), but not nearly enough to have dropped into some sort of time-space continuum back to D.C. or an alternate Cleveland-Washingon mashup universe.
All was finally well when a kindly street worker explained that it was due to the filming of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which shot a few scenes in Washington before heading to Cleveland for other scenes, like blowing up a Metro bus.
