PACs Show Strength in Giving to Congress

Early filings of political action committee reports for May activity are showing solid strength in their contributions to members of Congress.

, a Democratic PAC specializing in earmarked contributions for specific candidates, remains the largest PAC. It reported receipts of $5,554,109 during May. So far in 2013, the PAC has raised $26,676,998. It is collecting at a rate on par with the Democratic National Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee, and ahead of the senatorial committees or each party.

The PAC gave out $5,168,868 in contributions to federal candidates and committees.

The PAC gave $1,550,629 to the DCCC; $367,439 to the DSCC; $268,385 to Markey Senate Victory; $130,188 to The Markey Commitete; $230,764 to Elizabeth Colbert Busch for Congress; $191,000 to House Senate Victory Fund; $187,083 to Off the Sidelines PAC; and $181,448 to Friends of Mark Warner; among others.

Major donors included William Derrough (investment banker, Moelis, N.Y.) $32,400; Dennis Mehiel (president, Four M Company, N.Y.) $32,400; Andrew Heiberger (CEO, Town Real Estate, N.Y.) $30,000; Alex Rigopulos (CEO, Harmonix, Mass.) $25,200; Arnold Hiatt (president, The A.M. Fund, Mass.) $22,600; Henry Jarecki (chairman, the Falconwood Corporation, N.Y.) $20,000; among others.
