Cory Booker Airs First TV Ad #NJSEN

Newark Mayor Cory Booker went on the air Tuesday with his first television ad in the special election for Senate in New Jersey.

His first spot, “Run,” is a positive one that touts his record as mayor.

The ad is backed by a sizable statewide cable buy, according to a Booker aide. New Jersey includes two of the most expensive media markets in the country, New York City and Philadelphia, making for sky-high advertisement rates on broadcast television.

New Jersey-based Message & Media produced the 30-second spot.

Booker is the favorite to win the Aug. 13 Democratic primary.

Reps. Frank Pallone Jr. and Rush D. Holt and state Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver are also running in the special election to serve out the remainder of the late Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg’s term. The winner will be favored against the Republican nominee in the Oct. 16 general election.
