James Carville Fundraises for Embattled Democrat #FL26

Democratic strategist James Carville authored a fundraising solicitation for freshman Rep. Joe Garcia, D-Fla., a couple of weeks after the congressman’s  former chief of staff resigned over a political scandal.

Carville made no mention of the aide’s issues, portraying Garcia as a likely future victim of Republican super PACs in the Tuesday morning missive. Garcia has denied any involvement in his former aide’s legal woes.“He needs your urgent help to show Karl Rove and the Koch Brothers that their dreams of winning this seat in 2014 are just that — dreams,” Carville wrote of Garcia’s re-election race.

Carville frequently lends his name to Democratic congressional campaigns’ fundraising emails. The deadline for federal candidates to report their fundraising is June 30.

“FEC deadlines are like a politico’s idea of an arm-wrestling match — we have to help my friend Joe flex his muscles,” Carville added. “All eyes will be on their fundraising totals to see if they have what it takes to fight back against the onslaught of outside money coming their way.”

The Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call rates the race for Florida’s 26th as Tossup/Tilt Democratic.
