Attorney Eloise Gomez Reyes will announce on Tuesday that she raised more than $203,000 in the second quarter in her quest for California’s 31st District, according to figures provided exclusively to CQ Roll Call.

Reyes is facing a highly contested primary against three other Democrats — Redlands Mayor Pete Aguilar, former Rep. Joe Baca, D-Calif., and local school board official Danny Tillman — as well as current Rep. Gary G. Miller, R-Calif. The top two vote recipients, regardless of party, will advance to a general election under the state’s new primary system.

Reyes formally filed her federal paperwork to run for the seat on May 7. She has been placed “On the List” by EMILY’s List, a group that seeks to elect progressive women to all levels of government across the country.

Democrats are targeting this seat for a pickup in 2014. Last year, President Barack Obama carried the district with 57 percent.

Also in that 2012 race, four Democratic candidates, including Aguilar, divided the Democratic primary vote so that Miller and another Republican advanced to a general elections.

Miller has yet to release his fundraising totals this quarter.

However, following California Republican Rep. John Campbell’s retirement in the nearby 45th District, local GOP operatives suggested Miller may be eyeing a move to run for that seat. The 45th District is more favorable for Republicans; GOP nominee Mitt Romney carried that district with 55 percent in 2012.
