Capitol Riverfront Bars Await All-Star Fans

The Washington Nationals aren’t back in town until Friday night, but the bars and taverns surrounding Nationals Park on the Capitol Riverfront are there for you.

Game days around Nats Park can be a little nutty, as anyone trying to get a beer at one of the area establishments can attest. One way to see how such places like Justin’s Cafe (1025 First St. SE), Park Tavern (202 M St. SE) or Gordon Biersch (100 M St. SE) are when 30,000 people are not traipsing through is to find out tonight, when Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game plays on their big-screen TVs.

The game starts at 8 p.m. and features the Nats’ own Bryce Harper, who will start for the National League in left field. On Monday night, Harper came in second in the Home Run Derby.

Each one of these places offers its own unique vibe to take in a game. Justin’s has a casual, neighborhood feel to it, with good beers and pizza. Park Tavern feels a bit more elegant, with its Dwell magazine design. And Gordon Biersch is that rowdier, louder, talkier place where it feels about right to consume a balanced diet of  in-house beers and garlic fries.
