Washington firms that specialize in lobbying Congress and the executive branch are reporting large payments from their clients during the second quarter.

Davis & Harman LLP, reported it was paid $160,000 during the second quarter to lobby for the Committee of Annuity Insurers. They lobbied on proposals related to the tax treatment of annuities; proposals to encourage lifetime annuitization; proposals to amend the required minimum distribution rules to restrict the availability of stretch payments to beneficiaries, including S. 953, the Student Loan Affordability Act.

Capitol Hill Consulting Group reported it received $135,000 from the FLM Company. Winston & Strawn LLPreceived $130,000 from the Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Nelson, Mullins, Riley & Scarborough received $130,000 from Nexen. FaegreBD Consulting received $130,000 from the Pharmaceutical Distribution Security Alliance. Ben Barnes Group LP received $125,000 from the Huntsman Corporation.

Other lobbying firms receiving large payments include: The Keys Group LLC received $120,000 from JBS USA. The Prime Policy Group received $120,000 from the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration. ThePrime Policy Group also received $120,000 from FedEx Corporation (through O’Melveny & Myers LLP).  Dutko Worldwide LLC received $100,000 from CITGO Petroleum Company.

Lobbying reports are due next week. It is expected that over $800 million will be reported for lobbying during the second quarter of 2013.
