While many members of Congress look down from Capitol Hill and dream of retiring to higher paying jobs as lobbyists or advisers on K Street, former Rep. Jo Bonner, R-Ala., resigned on Aug. 2 and left his $174,000 job representing the 1st District of Alabama and started his new $350,000 job in Alabama on Aug. 16.

Classes have begun for the fall semester at the University of Alabama. Bonner is now the vice chancellor of economic development and government relations. View University of Alabama article.

Bonner was elected in 2002 and served more than 10 years in the House.
