Former Rep. Marjorie Margolies, a Democrat seeking to return to Congress in Pennsylvania’s 13th District this cycle, has lined up support from 30 current and former members of Congress, the campaign announced Thursday.

The group of Democrats – including Minority Whip Steny Hoyer of Maryland and Reps. Rosa DeLauro, Nita M. Lowey, Maxine Waters and Henry A. Waxman, among others – will host a fundraiser for Margolies on Sept. 24.

Margolies, who served one term in Congress from 1993 to 1995, is running in a crowded Democratic field to replace outgoing Rep. Allyson Y. Schwartz, who is running for governor. Other Democrats in the race include state Sen. Daylin Leach, University of Pennsylvania medical professor Valerie Arkoosh and state Rep. Brendan Boyle.

Despite Margolies’ ties to the Clintons (her son is married to Chelsea Clinton), she raised the least amount of money among the four-candidate field in the second quarter.

Pennsylvania’s 13th District is rated a Safe Democratic contest by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.
