After a four-and-a-half-year absence, 7-Eleven Inc. is getting back into running a corporate political action committee. It may relate to the company’s interest in immigration reform and convenience stores becoming eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

The company registered 7-Eleven Inc. PAC on Sept. 20. The PAC is based in Dallas, Texas, with Keith Jones as treasurer.

7-Eleven Inc. is a subsidiary of Seven & I Holding, based in Japan. Seven & I Holding (SVNDY:OTCMKTS) is a publicly traded company.

During the second quarter of 2013, three lobbying firms have reported being paid by 7-Eleven Inc. FTI Government Affairs was paid $30,000 for lobbying on tax legislation dealing with repatriation, tax issues, agriculture and immigration reform. The Russell Group was paid $30,000 to lobby on agriculture issues, including the SNAP provisions concerning the eligibility of convenience stores to participate in the program. Mehlman Vogel Castagnetti Inc. was paid less than $5,000 to lobby on immigration issues.
