Senate Adjourns Until Monday

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., announced Friday that the Senate would stand adjourned until Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. — or in layman’s terms, the last day the government will be operational if Congress cannot send a bill to the president to avert a shutdown.

The Senate sent its two-month continuing resolution to the House on Friday afternoon. The House will spend the weekend in Washington doing … something?

Reid had warned earlier Friday that if the House pushes any amended bill back to the Senate, there is a risk any one senator could hold up the bill for days and force at least a brief shutdown.
