New Dem Ad: Boehner Is Crybaby

A top Democratic super PAC will target Speaker John A. Boehner on his Ohio district’s airwaves, attacking him and the Republican Party for the government shutdown.

On Friday, House Majority PAC released the 40-second spot, which features a crying baby and blasts Boehner for his government shutdown strategy. The ad will only air this Sunday during the NFL game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the New England Patriots.

“Speaker John Boehner didn’t get his way on shutting down health care reform. So, he shut down the government and hurt the economy,” the ad says.

The spot is just a small chunk of House Majority PAC’s overall six-figure campaign that attacks vulnerable House Republicans on the government shutdown. The campaign targets Reps. Gary G. Miller of California, Mike Coffman of Colorado, Rodney Davis of Illinois, Michael G. Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania and Michael G. Grimm of New York, among others.

Boehner is not vulnerable for re-election. The 12-term Republican won re-election last year with 99 percent of the vote. His district voted for GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney with 62 percent.
