Gay Republican Plans to File for Young Seat

Republican political consultant Nick Zoller intends to file his statement of candidacy to run for the GOP nomination in Florida’s 13th District by the end of this week, according to his political consultant, Brad Fingeroot.

The race blew open on Wednesday when Republican Rep. C.W. Bill Young announced his retirement.

Attorney Jessica Ehrlich is running for the Democratic nomination. It is possible that other candidates will jump into both fields.

In the wake of Young’s announcement, Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call moved the race to the Tossup category.
