Riser Outspending McAllister in Louisiana Run-off Election

In the Louisiana 5th Congressional District run-off election scheduled for November 16th, State Senator Neil Riser, R-La., is outspending Monroe businessman Vance McAllister, R-La. The election is to fill the seat of former Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-La., who resigned to become the Secretary of the Louisiana Dept. of Veterans Affairs.

Neil Riser, R-La., reported he raised $173,991 and spent $286,901 from 9/30 through 10/27, leaving $97,349 cash on hand as of 10/27, and no debts. Riser received $11,500 from PACs and other committees, including $5,000 from the Exxon Mobil Corporation PAC.

He received $155,300 from itemized donors giving more than $200, including $2,600 from former Rep. Jo Bonner, R-Ala.; James Flores (chairman, FCX, TX); $1,000 from Joel Chaisson (District Attorney, St. Charles Parish, LA); $1,000 from Donald Bollinger (CEO, Bollinger Shipyards Inc., LA); and $2,600 from Gary Chouest (president, Edison Chouset Offshore, LA); among others.

In recent contribution notices Riser reported he received over $100,000 more in contributions of $1,000 or more, after the close of books on 10/27. This included $5,000 from the National Association of Realtors PAC; $5,000 from the Dow Chemical Company Employees PAC; $5,000 from the Citizens United Political Victory Fund; $5,000 from the Committee for the Preservation of Capitalism; $5,000 from the Dealers Election Action Committee of the National Automotive Dealers Association; and $2,500 from Gulf States Toyota Inc. Federal PAC.

Businessman Vance McAllister, R-La., reported he had receipts of $227,809 and spent $211,885 from 9/30 to 10/27, leaving $38,944 cash on hand as of 10/27, and debts of $170,000. McAllister loaned $170,000 to his committee in October. He received $56,949 from individuals giving more than $200.

Individual donors included $2,600 each from Keith and Jennifer Biedenhorn (Coca-Cola, LA); $2,600 each from Jason (pilot) and Lana Bullock (LA); $5,200 each from Reggie and Michelle McDaniel (owners, Mac’s Grocery, LA); $2,600 each from Keith and Debbie McKoin (owner, Mac’s Pitstop, LA); among others.
