PACs Support Congressman Before Retirement Notice
Prior to today’s announcement from a Congressman that he would not seek re-election in 2014, political action committees were willing to invest financial support during September no matter what his health condition.
Nineteen political action committees (PACs) reported giving campaign contributions during September to Rep. Howard Coble, R-N.C. Coble announced today he would not seek re-election due to health reasons. View Roll Call article. Even so, he will be in office and voting until January 2015.
Rep. Coble sits on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. PACs giving $1,000 each during September included the PACs of the American Trucking Association, the National Association of Truck Stop Operators (NATSO), Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, American Pilots’ Association, National Automotive Dealers Association, Air Line Pilot;s Association, Maersk Inc., Lockheed Martin Corporation, Northrop Grumman Corporation, and United Technologies Corporation.
Rep. Coble also sits on the
House Judiciary Committee that has jurisdiction over areas such as pharmaceutical patents and the Internet. PACs giving $1,000 each during September included the PACs of: Glaxosmithkline LLC, National Community Pharmacists Association, International Trademark Association, United States Telecom Association, Genentech Inc., Comcast Corporation, Google Inc., and the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).
Also giving $1,000 each were the PACs of American Express Company, American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, American Hospital Association, the National Association of Realtors, and the National Rural Electric Cooperative.
