Rep. Todd Young, R-Ind., has registered OORAH! PAC as his leadership PAC on 11/13. OORAH! is used to respond to a verbal greeting or as an expression of enthusiasm by Marines. Wikipeda states the word originally meant “All-right” or “Let’s go!,” in the Comanche language.

Many members of Congress establish a leadership PAC in order to contribute larger amounts to other candidates, than is permitted from their campaign committees. After it has been registered for six months, received contributions from more than 50 people and given to five federal candidates, it may be qualified as a multi-candidate committee. As such it will be able to give more than $1,000 to federal candidates.

Other members recently registering leadership PACs include Rep. David Valadao, R-Calif., and Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Wash. Rep Valadaoregistered Vitoria PAC on 11/12, and Rep. Rick Larsen registered Puget PAC on 10/31.
