Two new members to Congress have set up leadership PACs to support candidates who want to make government work and who want everyone at the table for legislative deliberations.

Freshman Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, registered this week a leadership PAC named Make It Work. The PAC is based in Washington, D.C. with John M.R. Paterson as Treasurer. Many leadership PACs are heavily funded with contributions from PACs sponsored by interest groups. In the 2011-2012 cycle, King’s campaign committee had receipts of $2.9 million, including $459,969 from PACs. Sen. King sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Budget Committee, the Rules and Administration Committee, and the Select Committee on Intelligence.
