$3 Million Funneled into Virginia’s November Election

A national party-oriented Section 527 committee reported it funneled more than $3 million in October to impact on the Nov. 5th Virginia election.

The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC), a Section 527 committee, reported it had receipts of $1,794,358 and expenditures of $4,523,760 during October.

Major donors included Reynolds American (NC) 200,000; Comcast Financial Agency Corporation (PA) $200,000; Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NV) $65,000; Motorola Solutions (IL) $100,000; Florida Power & Light Company (FL) $50,000; CNA/Continental Casualty Company (IL) $70,000; Citigroup Management Corp. (NY) $65,000; ACE Cash Express Inc. (TX) $60,000; Hewlett Packard (MI) $50,000; and Herbalife International (CA) $50,000; among others.

The committee gave $2,570,000 to Obershain for Attorney General (VA); $328,500 to the Republican Party of Virginia State Account; and $200,000 to the Dominion Leadership Trust PAC (VA).

The committee paid Jamestown Associates LLC (NJ) $268,017 for media placement.
