Peters is running against lobbyist David Jolly in the competitive primary for Florida’s 13th District. Republican Rep. C.W. Bill Young died earlier this year, creating the vacancy.

Five House Republican women, plus one GOP congressman from Florida, are on the Washington, D.C., event invitation.

They are Reps. Ann Wagner of Missouri, Susan W. Brooks of Indiana, Diane Black of Tennessee, Virginia Foxx of North Carolina, Lynn Jenkins of Kansas and Daniel Webster of Florida.

This event marks an early and overt manifestation from Wagner and Black to help female candidates in primaries. It’s part of a larger effort from the two Republicans to increase the number of women in their caucus from 19 female members.

The son of the late congressman and VIEW PAC, a group that bills itself as “a fundraising source for Republican women candidates running for the U.S. House and U.S. Senate,” will also host the lunch.

The race is rated Tossup by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.

Young died in October. The primary election is  Jan. 14 and the general election is March 11.
