The National Republican Congressional Committee spent $93,500 this week against Democrat Alex Sink in Florida’s 13th District special election, according to a Federal Election Commission report filed Thursday.

This is the first expenditure the NRCC has placed in the race this year. The committee is backing the newly minted GOP nominee, David Jolly, in this race.

The expenditure was made on Wednesday — the first day of the general-election campaign. Targeted Victory is a Republican firm with an emphasis in digital advertising. It remains unclear whether other outside groups will participate in this race.

Election Day is March 11 and the race is rated Tossup by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call. This is a race to replace the late Republican Rep. C.W. Bill Young, who died in October.
