Washington Outsider, Now Insider, Starts Leadership PAC
Rep. Vance McAllister, R-La., who was sworn in on November 16th, has registered his new leadership PAC, Making Actions Count Political Action Committee (MacPAC). The PAC and the treasurer, Marty French of DeWitt French & Giger LLP, are based in Monroe, Louisiana.
During 2013, McAllister raised $804,601, which included $655,000 he loaned or contributed to his committee, and only $1,000 from a PAC – the Jones & Walker LLP. After he took office he was given $5,000 by Speaker Boehner’s Freedom Project PAC; $5,000 by the Republican Main Street Partnership PAC; and $2,500 by the Jones Walker LLP.
McAllister has been assigned to the House Agriculture Committee, which ranks 6th among standing committees in the amount of money its members received in campaign contributions from PACs. In 2013, the committee members have received a total of $13.1 million from PACs.
McAllister also sits on the House Natural Resources Committee. Committee members have received $7.3 million from PACs in 2013.
