Grayson Restraining Order Dropped

Rep. Alan Grayson’s estranged wife has voluntarily dropped a restraining order against him, according to a statement from his office.

The Florida Democrat was accused by Lolita Grayson of injuring her during an argument earlier this month, an allegation the congressman vehemently denied. His office said in subsequent statements that Lolita Grayson had in fact attacked him and cast doubt on her mental state.

The Orange County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Department declined to press charges last week.

“While this is certainly positive news, we want to emphasize that these baseless charges should never have been brought in the first place,” Lauren Doney, spokeswoman for the congressman, said in a statement. “For the sake of the all parties involved, we sincerely hope that this concludes Ms. Carson-Grayson’s efforts to misrepresent and exploit the family’s private affairs.”
