Clawson Loans $2.65 Million to His Special Election Campaign

A federal candidate has loaned his campaign $2.65 million for his April 22nd Republican primary race to fill the Florida 19th Congressional District seat vacated by former Rep. Trey Radel, R-Fla.  

Curt Clawson , R-Fla., reported  he raised $2,864,734 and spent $2,265,783 from January 1st to April 2nd. He reported he loaned his committee $2,650,000.  

The committee spent $895,715 on media placements; $269,305 on online advertising; and $242,420 on video production; among other expenses.  

The campaign of Paige Kreegel, R-Fla., reported  receipts of $236,056 and spending of $205,129 from January 1 through April 2nd, leaving $33,980 cash on hand, and $547,263 in debts. The debts include $385,000 he loaned his 2012 campaign. Kreegel was the largest donor during the period, loaning his campaign $110,000.  

The campaign spent $150,000 on television ads buys.  

Lizbeth Benacquisto, R-Fla., reported  receipts of $980,836 and spending of $796,888 for January 1 through April 2nd, leaving $183,947 cash on hand on 4/2. She loaned her committee $50,000 during the period. She spent $500,000 on media placement.

The general election is on June 24th.
